BAKU HOSTS REGIONAL MEETING OF INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION
Baku, February 10 (AzerTAc). A three-day regional meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has kicked off in Azeri capital.
The aim of the meeting is preparation to a Safety Conference to be held on 29 March in Montreal, Canada.
The event gathered 70 participants from 20 European and Asian countries, including representatives of six various international aviation agencies.
Addressing the meeting, director of the State Civil Aviation Administration of Azerbaijan (SCAA) Arif Mammadov expressed assurance the regional meeting will achieve its goals. Mammadov signified holding “such important forums” in Baku from the viewpoint of SCAA`s integration into European standards.
He raised awareness of the participants about SCAA`s activities.
Karsten Theil, ICAO`s Regional Director on Europe and North Atlantic, touched upon a recent air crashes. He praised the Baku meeting, expressing confidence it would contribute to development of global safety principles of flights.
ICAO, a major agency of the United Nations, codifies the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth. Its headquarters are located in the Quartier International of Montreal, Canada.
