FRENCH EXPERT HIGHLIGHTS NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT IN SEMINAR IN PARIS
Paris, February 9 (AzerTAc). Michel Malherbe, chairman of the France-Ukraine Association, UN expert on Iran and Ethiopia, in a seminar on diversity of Caucasus held here, highlighted the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The expert said Armenia had occupied Azerbaijan`s Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, in the wake of which more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs.
He noted Armenia had become a mono-ethnic country as a result of the ethnic cleansing policy.
Malherbe also touched upon economic processes in Azerbaijan, saying due to successful economic reforms, the country`s prestige across the world increases regularly. He described Azerbaijan the region`s leader country.
Malherbe also praised the fact that favorable conditions had been created in Azerbaijan, which he called “tolerant”, for ethnic minorities.
The expert also briefed the participants on the ethnic composition of the Caucasus, languages and religions as well as political and economic situation in the region.
