PACE CO-RAPPORTEURS VISIT GANJA
Ganja, February 8 (AzerTAc). PACE co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Azerbaijan Andres Herkel and Joseph Debono Grech visited Ganja, the second largest city in Azerbaijan, on Monday as part of their Azerbaijan visit.
They first visited a monument to Heydar Aliyev to pay respect to the national leader of Azerbaijan.
The co-rapporteurs met with Ganja governor Eldar Azizov. MP Aydin Abbasov was also present at the meeting.
Herkel was quoted as saying that the aim of the trip is to prepare a report on Azerbaijan`s honoring CoE commitments and situation of human rights and freedom of speech and media.
The co-rapporteurs visited a mausoleum to great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi and Ganja Court of Appeal.
The co-rapporteurs will visit the Ganja police department, pre-trial detention facility No2, Ombudsman`s Ganja office and meet with heads of Ganja-based NGOs.
