Berlin Film Festival to screen five Iranian movies

Berlin, Jan 30, IRNA - Five Iranian movies will be screened at the 60th Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale), due to unroll the red carpet in the German capital from February 11 through 21, the spokeswoman of the Berlin film event, Frauke Greiner, told IRNA here Friday.

A German-Iranian film production directed by Rafi Pitts will be among 26 entries to compete for the top award at the Berlin Film Fest.
Pitts' Shekarchy (The Hunter) will make its world premiere at the renowned Berlin film festival.

The movies features Rafi Pitts, Mitra Hajjar, Ali Nicksaulat and
Hassan Ghalenoi.

Iranian documentary film-maker Nader Davoodi will showcase his movie
Red, White, Green, while Batin Ghobadi will screen the movie Ask The Wind (Az Bad Beporsid).

Other Iranian movies at the Berlinale include Iranian Cookbook (Dastoor-e Ashpazi) by Mohammad Shirvani and Cat And Mouse directed by Bijan Zamanpira and Nahid Ghobadi.

Iranian movies have won several acclaimed prizes at the Berlinale over the past years.

More than 400 films from 193 countries will be shown at the Berlin festival due to run through October 3.

Meanwhile, a special workshop on Iranian film and cinema will be held on the sidelines of the Berlin Film Festival on February 17./end
