Iran’s 1st Vice President arrives in Istanbul

Istanbul, Jan 26, IRNA – Iran's 1st Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi arrived in Istanbul Monday night to attend a conference on Afghanistan.

Rahimi was received by local officials at the airport, including the Governor General of Istanbul and the Iranian Ambassador to Turkey.

The Istanbul Friendship and Cooperation Conference, comprised of leaders and officials of Afghanistan’s neighbors, the host country, and of course Afghanistan, plus Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and some other countries would be held in Istanbul on January 26th and 27th.

The Iranian Veep participated at a dinner ceremony hosted by the Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Monday night.

Rahimi is also scheduled to give an address at the Tuesday session of the conference, reflecting the viewpoints of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Afghanistan.

Holding meetings with some of the participating heads of countries at the conference and attending meetings with the press are among the other activities of the Iranian first vice president on his second day in Turkey./end
