1st light aircraft exhibit planned

Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA -- The 1st Exhibit of Light Aircraft will be held at Payam Airport in Tehran on March 1-5.

Secretary of the exhibit Arman Bayat said Sunday that the event is to feature some 80 various types of light aircraft and helicopters.

The event seeks to change the infrastructure of aeronautics industry and raise public awareness in the field, he said.

Arman noted that the event has been co-sponsored by Ministry of Roads and Transport and the State Aviation Organization.

He said that Iranian public has not a record of interest in aeronautics branch and aerial transport in the past.

Transport is a main factor which helps flourish economy and that developing the aeronautics will help bring about economic prosperity.

There are some 65 state-run commercial airports in the country which have direct impact on progress and development of transport industry, Arman said.

Aeronautics is a Greek word meaning air navigation. The science is involved with the study, design, and manufacture of flight-capable machines, or the techniques of operating aircraft./end
