Iran, Etc. art project underway in Istanbul

TEHRAN, Jan. 22 (MNA) -- Iranian artist Amir-Ali Qasemi is running his art project Iran, Etc. with the collaboration of Turkish PiST in Istanbul these days.

“Last week, the Iran, Etc. project began with my speech on Iran’s contemporary art. The project will continue for three weeks in which over 30 slideshows, installation works, animations and a collection of Iranian artworks will be put on show,” he said.

“I made my best efforts to select different creative works done by Iranian artists for the show in Istanbul. I even chose those artists who have had less opportunity to be introduced within the country,” he remarked.

Qasemi, founder of parkingallery website, has been collaborating for years with Didem Özbek and Osman Bozkurt, the Turkish founders of the non-profit artists’ initiative PiST.

Iran, Etc. is part of a project launched by PiST entitled “Artist Information” which enables artists to get in touch with their counterparts in other countries. “Artist Information” collects information about Turkish artists, their activities, as well as information about artists from other countries.

“Iran was selected as the first country to exchange artwork and information for many reasons such as being a neighbor, and its cultural and historical commonalities with Turkey,” he remarked.

Qasemi expressed hope he would bring the project in the country in May with Turkish artists displaying their artworks in Iran.
