Doha, September 30 (QNA) - The topics covered by the editorials of the Qatari newspapers issued Friday morning varied between commenting on the efforts of the State of Qatar to provide the world with low-carbon energy products and the conclusion of Barzan Joint Exercise (9) attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, which was organized by the Amiri Guard at Lahsaniya camp Thursday morning, and finally, the winter camping season for 2022-2023. Under the title "Qatar is a reliable provider of clean energy," Al-Raya newspaper said in its Friday editorial that providing the world with low-carbon energy products is a commitment that Qatar has taken on for the future of humanity. Qatar believes that solving the climate change crisis requires joint international action, balancing the needs of economic development and climate ambitions. The newspaper pointed out that this is a commitment and principle announced by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, in the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference, which was hosted by Japan. The newspaper quoted him as saying that without a realistic stable path towards the reduction of our carbon footprint, we will become more vulnerable to extreme climate change events. Qatar, through its leadership position at the head of the LNG industry, has taken great strides in the field of preserving the environment, as it has fulfilled its commitments related to cleaner energy. It has a pioneering projects like the North Field Expansion, the recently announced world-scale blue Ammonia plant, the QatarEnergy LNG shipbuilding program, carbon capture and sequestration, and renewable solar production. Al-Raya pointed out that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to addressing the phenomenon of climate change, and confirms this through the implementation of many projects and initiatives that contribute to efforts to reduce air pollutants, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and increase reliance on renewable energy sources. It stated that in its latest initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions, the State of Qatar actively participated in the establishment of the Zero Emissions Forum to develop practical strategies to achieve net zero emissions, including reducing methane emissions, promoting an economic approach to carbon recycling, developing and disseminating clean energy and carbon capture and storage technologies, diversifying sources of income instead of relying on hydrocarbon revenues, and other measures in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 in order to protect the environment and confront climate change. At the conclusion of its editorial, Al-Raya expressed Qatar's pride in being one of the most important countries that seek to reduce carbon emissions, save the planet and confront global warming. Qatar has introduced the concept of sustainability in many strategic projects, and seeks to adopt a sustainable economy based on clean energy, as it has expanded in this field and has become one of the most clean energy suppliers in the world. It is also following a comprehensive strategy to transition to clean and renewable energy within its National Vision 2030, where Qatar has succeeded in achieving great strides in this regard, the biggest example of this success is the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the first carbon-neutral edition in the tournament's history. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the success of the State of Qatar in producing the World Cup in an optimal security manner is confirmed by its experiences and success before in organizing a number of major sporting events and tournaments and global indicators related to global security and peace, as the country ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to the Global Peace Index 2022. In its Friday editorial, and under the title "A different season", Al-Watan newspaper tackled the announcement of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) on the opening of the registration door for winter camping season 2022-2023 across the entire regions of the State of Qatar during Oct. 16-27, 2022, in three separate phases, where the registration for the southern regions (Sealine Beach & Khor Al Adaid) will start from Oct. 16 to 19, 2022, while registration for the central regions will be from Oct. 20 to 23, and in the northern regions, the registration will be from Oct. 24 to 27. Al-Watan quoted Assistant Director of the Department of Natural Reserves at MOECC Salem Hussein Al Safran as saying that camping activity in Sealine Beach & Khor Al Adaid has been delayed beyond FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in order to hold heritage and recreational events that introduce the Qatari culture and the unique environment the country embraces to the visitors during this tournament, pointing out that designated areas for families and others will be established in Sealine Beach, including the areas that will be used to introduce the wildlife, natural reserves and wild animals to the visitors. In conclusion, the newspaper affirmed that MOECC is keen to have a successful camping season this year, calling at the same time to preserve the environment and conserve its natural resources through utilizing the alternative and eco-friendly energy, in addition to cultivating the plants and trees, safeguarding the camping sites and adhering to the regulations and conditions that were set with respect to camping, including adherence to the determined coordinates for the camp and distances between them, ranches, farms and villages, so that the camping season will be different this year because it coincides with Qatar’s organization of the 2022 World Cup.
