Qatar Olympic Academy Concludes 3rd Olympic Culture Seminar

Doha, June 29 (QNA) - The Qatar Olympic Academy concluded the 3rd Olympic Culture Seminar of 2022, titled "Olympic Values and the Culture of Volunteering in Sports Events," with the participation of 70 scholars from Qatar and abroad via the distance learning system. The first lecture in the seminar was conducted by International Olympic Academy Dean Konstantinos Georgiadis, who touched on several topics relating to the first part of the seminar's title, which is Olympic Values, where he revisited the origins of the ancient Olympic games, followed by a review of the modern Olympic movement. In addition to the Olympic values of Olympic tournaments. Georgiadis also highlighted the importance of social responsibility which is an integral part of the International Olympic Committee's work, with social responsibility being one of the Fundamental Principles jotted down in the Olympic Charter. For his part, the Volunteer Strategy Manager in the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Nasser Al Mogaiseeb spoke during the second lecture about a number of themes discussing the second part of the seminar's title, which is the culture of volunteering in sporting events. Al Mogaiseeb addressed the culture of volunteering, and its importance to the individual, society, and national and international institutions. He also discussed the culture of volunteering as an Olympic value, and the importance of volunteering in stimulating sportsmanship. Moreover, he then moved on to talk about strategies of volunteerism and its connection to legacy. Finally, Al Mogaiseeb talked about the strategy of managing volunteers in major sporting events, especially the strategy of managing volunteers in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The 2022 calendar of the Qatar Olympic Academy includes holding four sessions of the Olympic Culture Seminars. (QNA)
