Qatar Participates in Asian Football Confederation's General Assembly

Doha, May 18 (QNA) - HE President of Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani participated in the 32nd general assembly meeting of the Asian Confederation, which was held today via video communication technology, with the participation of the heads of the member associations and officials of the AFC. The meeting of the General Assembly, which was held in Manama, was attended Board Member Hani Talib Ballan and Mansour Al Ansari, Secretary-General of the Qatar Football Association. During the General Assembly meeting, the attendees were briefed on Chinas decision to withdraw from hosting the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, and given the emergency nature of the situation, it was decided to delegate the Executive Office to choose an alternative host (after the process of submitting nomination files through the AFC Administration), and more details will be announced regarding the selection process for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup host in due course The General Assembly also approved the financial audit reports for the year 2021, and approved the proposed amendments to the articles of association, which affirm the union's commitment to good governance. The 32nd General Assembly meeting also adopted the report of the Secretary-General on the period preceding the conference, the concluding remarks of the President. Proposals submitted by member federations and the executive authority were also considered. (QNA)
