Doha, September 14 (QNA) - Works of the Sport Integrity Week 2021 continued on digital platforms on Tuesday. The initiative is proposed and organized by the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA), the world's largest sports integrity coalition. Extends till Friday, Sep. 17, the event aims to promote the adoption and implementation of the highest integrity standards at all levels and across all areas of sport. The discussion sessions witnessed today a Qatari participation, represented by Director of the Control and Development Department at the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, Amal Ahmed Al Kuwari, who took part in a session about governance of sports, fighting corruption and the international cooperation in Sports. Al Kuwari stressed that corruption undermines and impedes the progress of societies and has negative repercussions on all aspects of life, whether socially, culturally or economically. She added that corruption in sports impedes the ability of sports to develop and thus the failure to reach the lofty and noble goals of sports in achieving peace, development, tolerance and respect in society. Al Kuwari stressed the necessity to cooperate at the level of countries, organizations and public prosecution agencies, and to activate the best practices and exchange information within the framework of a collective international effort to combat corruption in sports and find a legal framework to prosecute those responsible for these crimes.
