Al-Raya Stresses Necessity to Adhere to COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

Doha, January 25 (QNA) - In its editorial Monday, Al-Raya newspaper stressed the need for community members in the State of Qatar to realize that complacency in the adherence to the precautionary measures increases coronavirus (COVID-19) infections and that the availability of the vaccine does not completely end the pandemic, calling all to adhere to the precautionary measures imposed by the authorities, as this will secure and protect families, individuals and the community as a whole. The reoccurrence and escalation of the infections during the past few days was possibly due to the leniency of some people as they began to be complacent in their adherence and implementation of the precautionary measures, thinking that the vaccine puts everything under control, which is inaccurate, the paper said, adding that the precautionary measures must be adhered to as they are considered the most important tool in facing the pandemic. Al-Raya warned that the complacency in implementing the precautionary measures imposed by the authorities to face the pandemic will affect everyone negatively as their implementation is meant to protect the community as a whole. The paper said that the assumption of some individuals that the dropping number of daily reported infections means the end of the pandemic is false, noting that the country witnessed a reoccurring escalation in the number of infections during the past few days, which proves the inaccuracy of that assumption and confirms the necessity to continue adhering to the implementation of precautionary measures imposed against the virus. The paper concluded its editorial by saying that the provision of the vaccine and the beginning of vaccination campaigns in more than 27 health centers does not mean the end of the pandemic, as precautionary measures must be adhered to, considering that they mark a significant step to contain the pandemic and gradually get life back to normal, pointing out that implementing this relies on the cooperation of all the community member with the country to put an end to this pandemic.
