Sport medical treatment agreement signed
Manama, June 11 (BNA): The Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital signed an agreement to facilitate surgeries and medical consultations for Bahrain national athletes. The deal was in line with the BOC commitment to provide optimal medical care for members of Bahrain sports teams and help them recover from their respective injuries. In his statement, BOC secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf said the agreement is a crucial step in the right direction in an attempt to support national teams’ athletes, not only physically, but also morally. Al Nusuf also commended the cooperation with the BDF Hospital and its keenness to provide such services for the athletes and described it as one of the leading facilities in the country and the available qualified and experienced physicians and surgeons. He extended his appreciation and gratitude to Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Head of Royal Medical Service, and Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief of Physiology and Head of Orthopedics, for approving this agreement which will serve a large segment of Bahrain’s athletes. On his part, Col. Dr Shaikh Fahad said he was pleased for this agreement, and affirmed the hospital’s keenness to harness all its facilities and capabilities for members of Bahrain sports teams and provide all that would facilitate their treatment process. On the other hand, Bahrain National Sports Medicine Centre Director Dr. Khalid Al Shaikh stressed the importance of such a cooperation to develop the quality of medical services presented to Bahrain’s athletes. He noted that his centre will transfer any case requiring surgical intervention to the hospital to treat cruciate ligament injuries, shoulder injuries, cartilage, ankle injuries, all other stadium injuries, as well as advanced diagnostic tests and consultations.
