25TH SAMBO ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS STARTS IN ULAANBAATAR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today, on May 11, 25th Sambo Asian Championships begun at 'Buyant-Ukhaa' sports complex in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Mongolia is hosting the Asian Sambo Championships for the third time and athletes from 14 countries including Iran, Japan, India, Kazakhstan, China, North Korea, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan are to compete in the tournament. More than 400 athletes are participating in the 25th Sambo Asian Championships in juniors, youth and adults age categories. Today , Congress of the Sambo Union of Asia has been also held at 'Bayangol' hotel with attendance of representatives of the 14 countries. Mongolian Samboists have been continuously participating in continental and world championships since 1973 and it has 37 World Champions. Sambo is one of the most successful sports that has developed in Mongolia, our athletes claimed 57 gold, 21 silver, 28 bronze medals from continental and world championships. G.Tuguldur
