Iraq, Sweden Discuss Strengthening Trade And Economic Cooperation Between The Two Countries

Baghdad/NINA/- Minister of Trade Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairi met on Tuesday with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad, Jörgen Lindström, to discuss prospects for economic cooperation and the development of trade relations between Iraq and Sweden.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations across various sectors and opening new channels of communication to strengthen economic understanding between the two countries and serve the interests of both peoples.
He noted that the Ministry has launched the Commodity Structure for Exports and Imports, an advanced database that provides accurate information on Iraqi trade, including the types and quantities of goods, partner countries, and trade values, which will contribute to formulating more effective trade policies.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of forming joint committees to provide a clearer understanding of the business environment in Iraq and to work on increasing the volume of trade and removing obstacles facing Swedish companies entering the Iraqi market.
For his part, Lindström expressed his country's strong desire to enhance its presence in the Iraqi market and invest in various sectors, particularly infrastructure projects, through the participation of reputable Swedish companies, businesspeople, and investors, thereby contributing to building strong economic partnerships and supporting development paths between the two countries. /End
