KHGC Chairman commends Bahrain as civilisational model in promoting religious freedoms, social cohesion

Manama, July 6 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, praised the Kingdom of Bahrain as a distinguished civilisational model.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted Bahrain’s respect for religious and sectarian freedoms and its promotion of a culture of human coexistence and national unity, under the noble patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He added that the commemoration of Ashoora this year represented an elevated embodiment of Bahrain’s genuine approach and its deep-rooted human values. He highlighted that the Kingdom has worked to establish a cohesive society based on tolerance, respect for religious and cultural diversity, and human compassion. This was made possible under the leadership and directives of His Majesty the King, and the efforts of the government led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. They ensured the provision of guarantees, facilities, and integrated services to allow the freedom to practise religious rituals with ease and reassurance.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed expressed pride in the successful organisation of the Ashoora season’s events, crediting the success to exemplary coordination among the relevant government entities, foremost among them the Ministry of Interior and the governorates. He noted that this coordination took place under the direct guidance and supervision of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior. There was also cooperation with the Ja’fari Endowments Council, scholars, sheikhs, heads of matams, and volunteer groups. These efforts contributed to presenting an honourable and civilised image of a tolerant and open society that embraces all its members. This was achieved within the framework of adherence to the law, national responsibility, and community partnership.
He valued the awareness of Bahraini society and its commitment to respect the spirituality of religious occasions, along with their ethical and human meanings and lofty objectives. He considered these occasions an integral part of the inclusive national identity. He added that this identity is based on noble Islamic values, a rich civilisational heritage, and national principles that call for moderation, reject extremism and hatred, and promote good citizenship. It also upholds respect for human rights and religious and civil freedoms, and strengthens bonds of mutual understanding and social harmony within a state governed by law and institutions.
