Palembang, S Sumatera, July 11 (Antara) - PT Sriwidjaja Fertilizer (PT Pusri), a state-owned company, had exported 41,747 tons urea fertilizer to some Asian countries in June 2014.
"Based on data of non-public service obligation fertilizer distribution until June 2014, we had reached 292,640 tons, of which around 41,747 tons had been exported," PT Pusri`s Public Relation Manager, Sulfa Ghanie, remarked in Palembang, on Friday.
Sulfa noted that the export volume will be increased to add to the company`s revenues and to expand its market in anticipation of an increase in production after its new plant had been built.
In the meantime, PT Pusri`s four operational plants produce 2.262 million tons of urea fertilizer per year that meets the domestic needs and half of its produce is exported.
With the new plant of Pusri II-B`s revitalization project, the company will increase production by 457.5 thousand tons per year, thereby reaching a total production of 2.61 million tons per year by 2015.
While expanding its foreign market, PT Pusri expects all its production can be absorbed, and the company will have sustainable development.
Sulfa also assured that the current exports will not impact the domestic needs, as based on the regulation, PT Pusri cannot export its product if the domestic needs are not met.
The current urea fertilizer stock reaches 51,665 thousand tons at the district level, which is referred to as the third line, and 38,663 tons at the plant level or the first line.
As a state-owned company, which is obliged to provide subsidized fertilizers to the farmers in nine provinces, PT Pusri is focusing to meet the domestic needs in order to support the government`s agriculture program.
Thus far, PT Pusri has assured that it will be able to meet the fertilizer needs of the farmers during the growing season in April-September 2014, in nine provinces such as South Sumatra, Lampung, Jambi, Bengkulu, Bangka-Belitung, Central Java, Banten, Jakarta Capital Region, and Yogyakarta Special Region.
