BANGKOK, December 31 (TNA) – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra wishes Thai people a wonderful New Year and promises to promote reconciliation in the country.
In her weekly talk program on the New Year’s Eve Saturday morning, Miss Yingluck said that in the past four months in office, she was most impressed with the organization of events to celebrate the Dec 5 birthday of His Majesty the King. She said she was glad to see Thai people smiling and expressing their loyalty to the King.
Ending the year, Miss Yingluck said she would like everyone to let go of past unwanted memories of the floods and economic problems and wished the New Year to be a year of smiles for everyone. She also asked Thai people to take part in promoting reconciliation and national progress in the country.
A jubilant atmosphere could be felt across Thailand on New Year's Eve with celebration activities being held nationwide. In Bangkok, people were seen crowding at the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground to worship Phra Buddha Navaratbophit Buddha image for good luck. Buddhist chants will be sung at Sanam Luang and temples nationwide on Saturday night for the auspicious transition to the New Year.
