Over 2mln books sent to Thailand's flood-affected schools

BANGKOK, December 29 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Education has sent over two million books to flood-hit schools in 65 provinces across the country. Education Minister Woravat Auapinyakul on Thursday presided over a ceremony to release a caravan of the 2.27 million books, donated by Suksapanpanich worth some 251 million baht, at the Education ministry in Bangkok to be delivered to the flood-affected schools under the supervision of his ministry's Office of the Basic Education Commission and Office the Non-Formal and Informal Education in 65 provinces by January 31, 2012. Fourteen billion baht-worth of books and learning equipment in more than 2,600 schools in the 65 Thai provinces have been damaged by massive floods recently. (TNA)
