Sheikh Salman detention, clear violation of human rights: Cleric

Qom, Jan 2, IRNA – Ayatollah Hossein Nouri-Hamedani, a renowned source of emulation, in a statement on Friday described the detention of Sheikh Ali Salman, secretary general of Bahrainˈs Al-Wefaq Islamic Society as a clear violation of human rights. He referred to merciless massacre of Bahraini Muslim people, demolishing of mosques and Husseiniehs, setting ablaze the Holy Qurˈan, acts of insult against religious leader Sheikh Isa Qassim and arrest of Sheikh Ali Salman as vivid cases of violation of human rights of people who are seeking freedom of speech and belief. Condemning detention of the Bahraini cleric, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani called for release of Al-Wefaq secretary general as well as other innocent people behind bars in Bahrain. The Senior cleric also urged international bodies to break their silences and uphold rights of the Bahraini oppressed nation. Sheikh Ali Salman was detained last week by Bahraini security forces.
