Thai authority assures safety in BOI Fair

BANGKOK, January 15 (TNA) – Following travel warnings issued by 12 countries over possible terrorist attacks in Bangkok, the Board of Investment (BOI) assures that its ongoing BOI Fair is safe and the number of visitors has exceeded 1 million. BOI secretary-general Atchaka Sibunruang told reporters Sunday that about 1,200 police, soldiers, guards, bomb disposal personnel and sniffer dogs have been deployed at the BOI Fair being held at Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok's outskirts from January 5-20 to closely monitor the situation. Bomb scanners have also been installed at all entrances to the fair; So she is confident that all the visitors will be safe. Atchaka also said the BOI fair has drawn interests from all groups of people ranging from students to officials from public and private organizations, noting that from Jan 5-13, the number of visitors to the fair has already exceeded 1 million. Meanwhile, shops, food stalls and restaurants in Bangkok’s Khao San Road, a popular destination among foreign tourists, continue to operate as usual.
