Chumphon rehabilitated in wake of floods
BANGKOK, January 6 (TNA) - Army troops have immediately rehabilitated over 50 flood-hit educational institutes and local infrastructure in Thailand's southern Chumphon Province, where a new round of flooding since the beginning of this year has been receding.
Some 30 local soldiers started a post-flood clean-up operation at Suansri Wittaya School in Chumphon, where school buildings, study resources and teachers' residences had earlier been submerged by about one-meter floodwater.
The Chumphon troops have also been dispatched to rehabilitate other schools in five flood-stricken districts of the province so that all local schools can resume their regular classes this coming Monday.
The local soldiers have also helped repair flood-damaged basic infrastructure and utility facilities in Chumphon, namely tap water system, roads and bridges. (TNA)
