Japan, Vietnam to Develop Vision for Farm Cooperation
Hanoi, June 26 (Jiji Press)--Japanese agriculture minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and his Vietnamese counterpart Cao Duc Phat here on Thursday signed a document that calls for developing a medium- to long-term vision for farm-sector cooperation between the two countries.
At their meeting, the two ministers agreed to cooperate in establishing a network for the production, processing, distribution and sales of agricultural products in Vietnam through public-private cooperation.
They also confirmed joint efforts in tackling climate change and fostering human resources by designating the northern Vietnam province of Nghe An and the Mekong Delta region in the southern part of the country as model districts.
Through the envisioned medium- to long-term vision, the two sides aim to promote Vietnam's farm sector growth and increase opportunities for Japanese companies' investment in the Southeast Asian country.
At the meeting, Hayashi said that Japan hopes to help facilitate growth of the entire Asian region through farm-sector support and private investment.
