Rudisha to Compete in Doha as Part of Olympics Preparations
Berlin, April 11 (QNA) - Kenyan 800-metres world champion and world record holder David Rudisha will compete at the Diamond League opener in Doha in May, local organizers and the runner said Wednesday.
Rudisha, 23, said he will run at the May 11 meet in Doha and probably one or two more Diamond League events in order to get
another title at the elite series, and to get in shape for the London Olympics which open on July 27.
"Racing and competing is part of the preparations for the Olympics. I do it as a plan to get to the Olympics, I don't want to
miss it," Rudisha said during a conference call from his Kenyan training camp in Iten.
"To have some races before is good to test yourself and shape up."
Rudisha lowered the world record twice to now 1 minute 41.01 seconds in 2010 and won the world title in 2011 in impressive fashion.
The London Games will be his first after missing the Kenyan trials for 2008 over an injury, and gold is on his mind despite all the pressure and expectations. (QNA)
