BREEF Showjumping Championship kicks-starts on Friday

Manama, Feb. 12 -- (BNA): The Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) continued their preparations for the holding of the BREEF President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa Showjumping Championship, which takes place tomorrow and Saturday at the Military Sports Association Field in Al-Raffah. Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid confirmed the working committees for the event, as well as all the six competition categories of the championship, which will start tomorrow at 8.30am. The first competition is Junior Level 1 for barriers height 85-95 cm with the speed of the course set for 300meters/minute. The second is for Junior Level 2 riders in two phases, with barriers height 95-110 cm and the speed of the course set for 300meters/minute. The third competition will be for Adults Level 1 in two phases with barriers height 85-95cm, and the speed of the course set for 350meters/minute. The fourth competition will be for Adults Level 2 for barriers Joker height for 95-105cm, and the speed of the course set for 350 meters/minute. The fifth category will be for Adults Level 3 with barriers height of 110-120cm, and the speed of the course set for 350 meters/minute. The sixth and last class of the day will be for Adults Level 4 with barriers 120-130cm in height and the speed of the course set for 350meters/minute. BREEF have set the rules and conditions for the championship, which allows horses to participate a maximum three times in a day, with each horse allowed just once in each category. Each rider is allowed to participate with two horses in each category. On his part, the BREEF Showjumping Committee Chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the high levels shown by the riders proves the development in the technical capabilities that give us the ambition to continue our hard work at BREEF for the betterment of the sport of showjumping, which we all believe that they are now on the right track. He pointed out that the current season is one of the exceptional ones. It has seen a marked increase in the number of competitions organised by BREEF as well as the riders and owners. He praised the substantial support of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, praising at the same time the follow-up of BREEF President Faisal Bin Rashid.
