WE WILL EXTEND EVERY SUPPORT TO TURKISH INVESTORS IN PALESTINE, ECONOMY MINISTER SAYS
ANKARA (A.A) - 15.07.2010 - Palestinian Economy Minister Hassan Abu Libdeh said Thursday they would extend every support to Turkish investors willing to invest in Palestine.
Speaking at the Turkish-Palestinian Business Forum in Ankara, Libdeh made a call on Turkish entrepreneurs to invest and win in Palestine and later transfer profits.
Aside from Minister Libdeh, the Forum was attended by around 75 Palestinian businessmen.
We thank Turkey again and again for defending the rights of Palestine, Libdeh said.
We share historical relations and strong ties with Turkey, Libdeh said.
Turkey is among the most powerful economies in the region and Palestine is proud of this fact, Libdeh said.
We want to make use of Turkey's experiences and create new business opportunities, Libdeh said.
The trade volume between Turkey and Palestine is only around 29 million USD. Palestinian exports to Turkey are worth around only 270,000 USD. This figure is too low. We can raise our trade volume to 450 million USD, Libdeh said.
The entrance of Palestinian goods into Turkey would not negatively affect Turkish producers. However, such entrance would benefit Palestinian businesspeople, Libdeh said.
The investors of both countries can establish joint companies. This way, our strength for production can get stronger. As your Palestinian brothers and sisters, we are ready to cooperate, Libdeh said.
The head of the Turkish delegation at the Forum and a member of the Executive Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Huseyin Uzulmez, said that Turkey's aim to establish an industrial zone in Gaza continued.
Once conditions get better, we will establish an industrial zone in Gaza, Uzulmez said.
The industrial zone will provide jobs to around 5,000 Palestinians, Uzulmez said.
Turkey is ready to share her developed industrial potential with Palestinian brothers and sisters, Uzulmez also said.
