Supreme leader advises MPs to behave properly

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 13/Trend M. Khatinoglu/ Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has met with Majlis (parliament) today and asked MPs that they stop disrupting proceedings when they don't agree with another member's statements. During his meeting with legislators, Mr. Khamenei warned them to observe rules of conduct in interactions with one another, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reports. The Islamic Republic's leader cautioned members of the Majlis against insulting others' dignity, mentioning unproven accusations and bringing up private matters during the course of their work. Khamenei told members it's crucial that the Majlis be "politically, morally and fiscally" sound, and warned even a small deviation from this path is a sign that the legislative body isn't politically healthy. Iranian MPs have recently criticized the government over its "failed" economic plans because of high inflation rate (22 percent), the unemployment rate (above 16 percent) and low GDP growth, which has not been published officially since last two years. But International Monetary Fund estimated that it would be 0.4 percent in 2012. Some MPs say Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration is involved in corruption and illegal acts. Ahmadinejad recently said that his administration's members have become "target board". Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
