Ruling Georgian Dream party head: Georgia “ready to play role” in ensuring South Caucasus peace

Baku, September 14, AZERTAC Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party Irakli Kobakhidze, on Tuesday said Georgia was “ready to play its own role” in ensuring peace in the South Caucasus region “within its capabilities”, according to Agenda.ge. Kobakhidze was commenting after the latest escalation of hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan overnight on Tuesday, with casualties confirmed. “The most important thing for us is to ensure peace in the region. This is our main "source of pain, our main desire and task. If Georgia and Georgian authorities can play any role in this regard, of course, we are ready in every way”, the GD official said. In his remarks over the matter, Kobakhidze stressed the “main task for everyone” should be to stop the conflict.
