Iran starts production of nuclear-fuelled submarines

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 12 /Trend S.Isayev, D. Khatinoglu/ Iran has started production of nuclear-fueled submarines, country Navy's Rear Admiral Abbas Zamini said, Fars reported. Islamic Republic's submarine force currently consists of three Russian Kilo-class diesel-electric submarines (Tareq 901, Noor 902, Yunes 903). Zamini said that the country plans to establish full production of light weight, medium weight and heavy submarines that run on nuclear fuel. The Islamic Republic has been enhancing its Naval Force, launching its irst homemade Jamaran destroyer in 2006 which brought Iran's frigate arsenal from 3 to 4 and enjoys Joshan frigates (Sina class) missile boats in Persian Gulf as well.
