Georgian parliament adopts draft constitutional amendments associated with Lazika

Georgia, Tbilisi, June 13 / Trend, N.Kirtskhalia / The Georgian parliament adopted draft constitutional amendments associated with the city of Lazika in the first reading. Over 106 MPs voted for the project, while one against it. According to the draft, the fifth paragraph was added to the third article of the Georgian Constitution, under which the status of future town Lazika on the Black Sea coast of Georgia will be determined by organic act. Discussions over the draft were held against the backdrop of long debates. According to the opposition, the authorities should be more concerned about the existing towns, but not to yield to "whims" of President Mikheil Saakashvili. The parliamentary majority considers Lazika as a new perspective for the development of the country. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
