Georgian Education Ministry prepared to fund studies of breakaway regions’ representatives

Georgia, Tbilisi, June 19 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
The Education and Science Ministry in Georgia is prepared to finance the studies of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region residents, who have a neutral identity card or a neutral passport.
"Existing educational programs will finance those living in the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, who wish to study in higher educational institutions in Georgia or abroad," the ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry has already announced registration of those wishing to receive funding.
Neutral documents will be issued "until the restoration of Georgian jurisdiction in full on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region (the former South Ossetian Autonomous District)." They will only have a serial number, unique number and they will not have the arms of Georgia.
Issuance of neutral documents is part of the Action Plan within the Strategy of the Georgian Government on Occupied Territories.
Military actions were launched in the Georgian territory, South Ossetia on Aug.8 in 2008. Later the Russian troops occupied the Tskhinvali city and drove the Georgian military back. Russia
recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in late August. In response, Tbilisi broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow and announced two unrecognized republics as the occupied territories.
