Belgian ambassador accredited in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, June 12 / Trend H. Hasanov / Chairman of the Majlis (Turkmen Parliament) Akja Nurberdieva has received the credentials of the Ambassador of Belgium Luc Truyens, the Turkmen government said. Energy, an agro industrial complex, textile and chemical industries, finance and banking are among promising areas of partnership. It was stressed that Belgian business circles appreciate the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation. The diplomat was informed about the main activities of the national parliament and reforms in the legislative sphere. Truyens was also received at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry. Meetings are planned to be held in several ministries and departments. Belgian ENEX process engineering SA has opened its representative office in Ashgabat. It offered cooperation in the processing and chemical industries and telecommunications, as well as the introduction of ecologically clean energy saving technologies. Enex has signed an agreement with the Turkmen government within the consortium with the French company Schneider Electric to ensure the power supply of the Turkmen capital. The agreement was signed in February 2010 during Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's visit to France. The aim of the project is to improve the quality and reliability of the energy system and respond to growth in energy consumption as a result of Ashgabat's dynamic development.
