Bail granted for leading red-clad "Arisman"
BANGKOK, December 29 (TNA) - Bangkok's Appeals Court has approved temporary release on a six-million-baht-bail for a red-shirt hardliner Arisman Pongruangrong, who will, however, be barred from travelling overseas without any judicial permission or involving in any action which may stir chaos or unrest in the country.
The court said in a statement that it had scrutinized Arisman's request for bail and agreed to grant him the temporary release, as his earlier surrender to a provincial court in the eastern Pattaya resort city meant that he was aware of being prosecuted and, as the domestic political situation has returned to normal, he was believed not to flee or threaten other parties.
The court set February 6, 2012 for further testimony on Arisman's case. The red-shirt hardliner was charged with terrorist acts during political unrest in Bangkok last year. (TNA)
