Azerbaijan records 7,000 customs offences from early 2012

Azerbaijan, Baku, June 16 / Trend, A.Akhundov / The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC) recorded 112 facts of criminal nature in January-May 2012, the SCC said today. According to the report, 73 facts were related to smuggling, 31 of them - with drug trafficking. During the reporting period 4.34 kilograms of narcotics, 6.18 kilograms - psychotropic substances were seized. Three cases of evasion of customs payment were recorded. On these facts, 130 people were detained as suspects in January-May. During the reporting period 6,820 facts of administrative offenses were recorded, 57 of which are associated with smuggling attempts, 155 - non-declaration of transported items, goods or money.
