Alaq Discusses With Kuwaiti Side The Organizational Matters Of The Reconstruction Conference In Kuwait

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (NINA) - Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alaq, during his visit to Kuwait, discussed with Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Al-Jarallah the organizational matters for the Iraq reconstruction conference to be held in Kuwait in February. A statement from the secretariat quoted Alaq as saying that "The conference was a valuable initiative from the State of Kuwait after a series of joint meetings to agree on the papers and research," added "The conference will not be traditional and the investment opportunities, which will be announced, will constitute a major pillar and will prepare investment plans and reports on the size of the damage in the liberated cities and the need for reconstruction according to specialized field studies. " He added "the conference will discuss the issue of securing humanitarian operations in the liberated areas," stressing" his confidence in the State of Kuwait and its success in organizing conferences. " He said, "A report will be prepared on January 13 on the extent of the destruction and the amounts needed for the reconstruction of Iraq on the official website of the conference." He noted, "The amount needed by Iraq for reconstruction is not less than 100 billion dollars to support the housing sector, which has been badly affected and the sectors of oil and telecommunications and basic industries and services, including the provision of water and sanitation." For his part, Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Al-Jarallah stressed the importance of the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq, noting that it is held under critical circumstances. "Kuwait's support for Iraq is not and will not stop because the security and stability of Iraq is the security and stability of Kuwait and the region," Jarallah said during a press conference held on the occasion of the declaration of the details of the conference, expressing his congratulations to Iraq on the decisive victory over the terrorist organizations. He added, "The State of Kuwait has started preparations for the conference since the Amir announced his intention to host the conference and was coordinated with the Iraqi side and the World Bank." "The World Bank will participate as a major contributor to the conference to provide guarantees to the private sector because it needs guarantees for investment and participation in the development of Iraq," he said.
