Uzbek-Chinese joint venture on transformer production launched

The Uzbek-Chinese Elektr Quvvat Qurilmalar was commissioned in Uzbekistan, Uzbekenergo told Trend on Monday.
The production capacity is up to 100,000 0.4, 10 and 35 kVA power transformers per year. The company plans to launch production of transformers with a capacity of up to 1,000 kVA in the future.
It is envisaged that at the first stage, ten percent of the products will be exported. This figure will be increased up to 20 percent, as well as ensure a level of localization of production by 30 percent in 2013-2014.
Uzbekenergo and China's Holley Metering Limited signed the framework agreement on cooperation in March 2011. The document envisaged the partnership between the two parties of the project to create modern production of transformers in Tashkent.
At present, the Uzbek power system includes 45 power plants with a total capacity of about 12,400 MW, including 16 power plants of Uzbekenergo with a a total capacity of 12,040 MW.
The rest electricity is generated by autonomous thermal power stations and small hydropower stations, belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources.
According to the official statistics, Uzbekistan increased electricity production by 1.3 percent in 2011 up to 52.416 billion kilowatt-hours compared to 2010.
