UNESCO launches 2nd edition of King Hamad award

Manama, June 25 (BNA): Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi said the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) had announced on its website the launch of the second edition of the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. Applicants wishing to vie for the award can submit their applications from June 22 to November 10. The prize is designated to reward innovations in teaching and learning that leverage technology to improve educational outcomes. The theme for the 2015 prize is "Pedagogical Innovation in the Use of ICT in Teaching and Learning". The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize rewards people and institutions that are rethinking pedagogy for the digital age. It seeks to recognise the organisations and individuals that are embracing ICT as a pedagogical ally and, in turn, make learning more effective. The award, launched at an initiative by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, embodies strong cooperation between Bahrain and UNESCO and aims to promote international cooperation in the use of ICT in education.
