Sheikha Al-Mayassa Inaugurates 1001 Inventions and Arabick Roots Exhibitions

Doha, October 16 (QNA) - HE Chairperson of Qatar Museums Authority Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani inaugurated the 1001 Inventions and the Arabick Roots Exhibitions today at the Museum of Islamic Art. The inauguration ceremony, attended by 500 local and international figures, took the audience on a journey into the Golden Age of Muslim civilizationt hrough highlighting surprising connections between the scientific pioneers of Muslim Civilization and 17th century European scientists, who collaborated to find solutions to the most pressing issues of their time. The 1001 Inventions was opened today to the public until 12 November 2012. Arabick Roots will continue on until 19 January 2013. The 1001 Inventions looks at the Golden Age of Muslim civilization and the scientific innovations that took place. Covering the 1000 year period between the 7th and 17th century, the exhibition utilizes interactive displays to show how Middle Eastern technology, science, and medical practices paved the way for contemporary society. The 15-week celebration will feature interactive exhibitions, movies, live shows, cultural events and educational seminars. (QNA)
