QP's Offshore Operations Marks 50 Years at Halul Island

Halul Island, Qatar, December 18 (QNA) - Qatar Petroleum s Offshore Operations has observed 'Offshore Day 2012' to mark its 50 years of success in operating, producing and exporting hydrocarbons from Qatar's offshore fields, under the patronage of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada. HE Dr. Al Sada was the Chief Guest at 'Offshore Day 2012' which was held yesterday. A number of QP directors and the top management of QP's joint venture partners - Total Exploration and Petroleum Qatar (TEPQ), Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Limited (OPQL), and Qatar Petroleum Development Company (QPD) attended the event. QP periodically organises the 'Offshore Day' to highlight the achievements of Offshore Operations in oil and gas production and exports. Such events have been held in 1996, 2002, 2005 and 2008 in Halul Island which is one of QP's offshore locations. The event provides an opportunity to introduce the range of offshore operations activities to the senior management of other QP departments and the corporation's joint venture partners. QP's Offshore Operations has been operating the Maydan Mahzam and Bul Hanine oil fields and the Halul Island Terminal and Export facilities for the past 50 years with excellent safety record while protecting and caring for the environment. Qatar Marine Crude from these fields represents about 28% of Qatar's total crude oil production, out of which 10% comes from QP-operated fields and 18% from QP's joint venture partners - OPQL, TEPQ and QPD.
