QNA Organizes the Second Part of Edited Translation Course
Doha, November 04 (QNA) - Qatar News Agency (QNA) will organize tomorrow the second part of the special training course edited (or written) translation in the context of a series of training courses organized by the Media Relations Department at the agency premises for qualifying and training of Qataris working in the media field .
Around seventeen trainees from all government agencies in addition to a number of Qatari News Agency staff members will take part in the three-day training course.
The programme of the course, during which Mowaffaq Fa'iq Tawfiq, an interpreter from Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel will give lectures, includes many topic and themes as well as theoretical explanations and practical applications on some texts that include different types of news, and practical tests on selected texts.
Director of the Media Relations Department at Qatar News Agency Ahmed Mohammed Al Buainain said the second part of the course aims to train Qataris working in this field to identify the elements of translation and bases and the difference between the translated and edited text.
He pointed out to many training courses that will be organized by the Agency in the year 2012 -2013 including the design of journalistic sites on the internet, photography, refuting of media campaigns, integration of media discourse in GCC states, arts of conducting interviews, skills of dealing with VIPs, facilitating the exchange of information between media institutions, running of editing rooms in news agencies, and planning and management of media organizations.
Mowaffaq Fa'iq Tawfiq, holds a Bachelor's degree in languages from the University of Westminster, Britain and a higher diploma in translation. He was known for his on the air interpretation of world events over the last ten years.
He also offers training courses in translation and interpretation for beginners and advanced translators at the Al Jazeera Media Training and Development Centre.
The course comes in implementation of Emiri Decision No. 51 of 2009 which assigned Qatar News Agency to organize training courses for Qatari media men to develop their capacities and improve their professional level through continued training and development programmes. (QNA)
