Qatar's Efforts in Combating Human Trafficking Highlighted in Vienna

Doha, October 21 (QNA) - Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT) organized in Vienna an exhibition to introduce Qatar's achievements in combating human trafficking. The expo was held on the sidelines of the sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC). HE Qatar Ambassador in Vienna Mohamed bin Ali Al Malki along with QFCHT Chairman Dr Abdulla Al Mal inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of a number of key figures taking part in the UN conference. The expo attracted participants of the conference as well as employees of international organization and agencies and civil society members. They were introduced to Qatar's efforts in combating human trafficking. Over a five day period, the Conference brought together more than 800 delegates, 107 States Parties and 6 signatories. Progress was made in a number of resolutions including the illicit manufacturing and trafficking of firearms; the smuggling of migrants over land, sea and air; and the provision of technical assistance under UNTOC. On the margins of the Conference, States Parties and civil society participated in over 20 side-events discussing such issues as trafficking in persons, migrant smuggling, firearms and the protection of cultural property, among many others.
