Qatar Set to Participate in 14th Francophone Summit in Kinshasa Saturday

Doha, October 11 (QNA) - Qatar is set to take part this year in the14th bi-annual Francophone Summit ( XIVe Sommet de la Francphonie) for French-speaking nations, due to start on Saturday till October 14th in Kinshasa, the capital of Africa's biggest francophone state, the Republic of Congo ( DRC). Qatar's delegation attending the summit will be headed by Qatar's Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, HE Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al-Kawari. HE Qatar's ambassador to France, Mohamed Jaham Al kuwari will also attend the summit. Earlier in April, Qatar made a request to join the international organization of Francphone countries (IOF) which currently comprises 75 member states and governments (56 members and 19 observers). IOf represents over one-third of the United Nations member states and account for a population of over 890 million people, including 220 million French speakers. The last Summit was held in Montreux, Switzerland in October 2010. (QNA)
