Qatar Elected Chairman of Universal Postal Union's Congress
Doha, September 24 (QNA) - The Chairman of Qatar's General Postal Corporation (Q-Post) Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Aqaily was, unanimously, elected chairman of the 25th Universal Postal Union Congress (UPUC), during the opening session of the congress currently in sessionhere.
In a speech after receiving the chairmanship, Al-Aqaily emphasized the electing Qatar to chair the congress is a recognition of the leading role undertaken by the the State under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, pointing to that Doha has been hosting major events especially international gatherings set up under the banner of the United Nations.
He pledged to make every effort that contributes to the success of the congress, adding that he is intended to benefit from the experiences and expertise of the members to ensure the success of the collective endeavors of the UPUC) .
During the opening session also four deputies to the Chairman of the 25th Universal Postal Congress were appointed from the Dominican Republic, Estonia, Italy and Tanzania.
The congress also appointed the heads and deputies of its committees including the committees of authorization documents, finance, general affairs, hierarchy, organizational affairs, postal markets and products, development and the drafting committee. (QNA)
