Qatar Condemns Israeli Decision Expanding Settlement Building in Occupied Lands

Doha, December 05 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani presided over the regular cabinet meeting held on Wednesday at its Emiri Diwan premises. At the outset of the meeting, the cabinet condemned Israel's government decision expanding settlement building on the Palestinian occupied lands in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, terming the Israeli decision as a new violation to the international law and the international legitimacy resolutions and a fresh blow to the peace efforts since such a decision comes after the UN General Assembly resolution this voted in favour of granting Palestine and updating its status to a non-member state observer. This in turn constitutes an approach of the Israeli punishment and revenge policy which obstacles stability efforts in the region and blocks all endeavours being exerted to bring about a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause, HE Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said following the cabinet meeting. The cabinet meantime lauded the bold and concerted international stands emphasizing the danger of the Israeli decision which these stands aim to cancel it and called anew upon the UN Security Council to urgently and decisively repulse the Israeli settlement expansion and all practices of the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people through practical measures and resolutions binding to Israel since peace could only be achieved through the restoration of the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people foremost their right to establish their independent state with Al Quds Ash-Sharif ( Holy City of Jerusalem), as its capital.(QNA)
