Qatar Chairs Permanent Human Rights Commission of Arab League

Doha, September 05 (QNA) - The Arab League Council at the ministerial level at its 138th meeting, held here today elected the Chairman of Qatar National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) HE Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Marri, as Chairman of the Arab League's Permanent Arab Commission for Human Rights. The Arab Commission for Human Rights was established in 1968, according to the League Council's resolution No. 2443/48, and it comprises members representing all Arab countries. The Commission's main task is preparing studies and researches that support the promotion and protection of human rights in the Arab world. Dr. Al-Marri, in addition to being the Chairman of Qatar National Committee for Human Rights , He is also the Chairman of the Arab Network of National Institutions for Human Rights and the Vice President of the Asian Pacific Network for Human Rights.
