Qatar Calls for Enhancing Arab Counter-Terrorism Cooperation

Cairo, September 01 (QNA) - Qatar participated Saturday in the 13th meeting of the Arab Counter-Terrorism Committee in Cairo and called on enhancing all counter-terrorism efforts in the region. The Qatari delegation also called on activating all Arab counter-terrorism agreements. The meeting is held at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo. Egypt is chairing the meeting this year. Arab countries participating in this year's meeting will discuss the latest counter-terrorism developments in the region. Speaking to Qatar News Agency, Colonel Nasser Youssef Al Mal, from the Ministry of Interior's International Cooperation Department, said that participating countries will discuss seven provisions aimed at enhancing counter-terrorism cooperation in the Arab world. He said that Qatar called for establishing an international center for counter-terrorism in order to advance cooperation in that field. Al Mal underscored that Qatar particularly did not suffer from terrorism at all, adding Qatar currently is the 11th safest place on earth, and no. 1 in the Arab world. He said that Qatar's advanced position in that regard was a result of a bundle of laws and policies that cut off any chance of having terrorist attacks taking place in Qatar. The 13th Meeting of the Arab Counter-Terrorism Committee will be concluded on 3 September. (QNA)
