New Year Security Tweak for Bangkok’s Airport Rail Link
BANGKOK, December 24 (TNA) - Commuters on Bangkok’s new high-speed rail system, the Airport Rail Link (ARL), will be ensured with security in every ride during the upcoming New Year season.
ARL Public Relations Manager Prapaporn Kocharin announced on Saturday that, drunken passengers and those found carrying fireworks, will be denied onboard the ARL service; while parking spaces at the ARL’s main Makkasan Terminal will also be downsized to maximize passenger safety.
Prapaporn said that from December 15, 2011-January 3, 2012, the number of train police stationed at the ARL's Pyathai, Makkasan and Suvarnabhumi Stations, will also be raised to 47, from 18, with the officers to conduct all-day patrols onboard both City Line and Express Line trains to keep order.
According to the ARL public relations chief, as farewell gift for the year 2011, airport rail link services on December 31 will open from 6am until after midnight at 2am on January 1, 2012. (TNA)
