National Day/ Qatar Diplomacy... Successes Confirm Wisdom of Leadership
Doha, December 15 (QNA) - The Qatari diplomacy has achieved over the past year several important successes that confirm the prestigious position of the Qatari policy under the wise leadership of HH the Emir, the support of HH the Heir Apparent, and the successful diplomacy of HE the Premier and Foreign Minister.
The State of Qatar is keen to actively participate in the issues and challenges facing the Gulf region, and attaches great importance to supporting the GCC march.
Qatar also exerts the largest efforts in pursuit of Arab solidarity and strengthening the trust and communication between the Arab countries.
In the international arena, Qatar supports the efforts of the United Nations, supports the peaceful solutions for all disputes between countries and works on enhancing its relations with all countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plays a significant role in bolstering the relationships between the State of Qatar and other countries at the regional, Arab, Islamic and international level through its various departments. Qatar's foreign policy is based on solid foundations, in the forefront is the pursuit of security, stability and peace in the world; and recognize the principles of the United Nations that aim at supporting the right of peoples to self-determination.
Among the successes of Qatar's diplomacy is the election of HE Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Naser as President of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly 2011-2012.
Moreover, the State of Qatar has provided a total humanitarian and development aid of more than five billion riyals to more than 108 countries around the world.
Qatar's foreign policy has also achieved a lot of accomplishments regionally and internationally which supported the position of the State of Qatar and protected its international interests. The events of the Arab Spring confirmed the wisdom of Qatar's leadership and the successful principles of its foreign policy.
The Foreign Ministry also prepared several draft agreements, protocols and memorandums of understanding in several fields, and signed several regional, Arab and international agreements.
In the area of conferences, the Foreign Ministry organized the 4th annual Forum for the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the consultative meeting with Darfur civil society and armed movements, the conference for the Support of Investment and Development in the Republic of Comoros, the World Economic Forum Global Redesign Summit ; and the International Conference on the "HOPEFOR" initiative which aims at improving the effectiveness and coordination of military and civil defense assets for natural disaster response.
The Ministry also organized the Club de Monaco Meeting, the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on the Advancement of Women, workshop on Cooperation in the Framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, Forum for the Future and the Business and Investment in Qatar Forum.
Meanwhile, the Diplomatic Institute at the Foreign Minister organized the first Model Organization of Islamic Cooperation in collaboration with Qatar University. The conference drew over 500 students to discuss and debate two topical global issues food security and the environmental crisis, and political changes in the Muslim world and how they impact on Arabic and Muslim societies worldwide.
The Foreign Ministry also carried out a number of studies in different domains. It also issued the 2nd issue of the seasonal magazine "The Diplomat" and prepared a report on the foreign aid and the coordination system of the international cooperation.
The ministry also organized several training programs, lectures and courses in areas related the diplomatic and consular work.
Among its future plans, the Foreign Ministry is preparing for the Business and Investment in Qatar Forum, which will be convened this year in Berlin, sitting up a study to carry out a number of investments in Flanders, Belgium, coordinating for Qatar's participation in a commercial gallery and forum for halal products in Brussels and others.
