National Biosecurity Committee and UK Social Care Institute for Excellence collaborating

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The National Committee on Biosafety of Mongolia and the European Union CBRN CoE initiative are co-implementing a project entitled ‘Strengthening the National Legal Framework and Provision of Specialized Training on Bio-Safety and Bio-Security in Central Asian Countries P53’. With funding of the project, a training on configuration, maintenance and service of biological safety cabinet BSC II is being conducted in collaboration with UK Social Care Institute for Excellence from January 21 to February 2. Six engineers responsible for maintenance of the biosecurity cabinets at the National Center for Communicable Disease, National Center for Zoonotic Disease and State Central Veterinary Laboratory, are attending the training. Mongolia joined Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons in 1972 and Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety in 2002. It is necessary for the country to reduce biological potential risks, prevent and ensure preparedness, upgrade its legal environment to improve post-crisis management as well as empower organizations and human resource and tighten up the control.
