Lusail, Samsung Sign Contracts to Build Bridges and Roads on Qetaifan Islands
Doha, April 08 (QNA) - Lusail Real Estate Development Company on Sunday announced it has signed two agreements with Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction Company, a subsidiary of Samsung Group, Lusail said in a statement.
The first agreement (3A) consists of the building of six bridges, including two suspension bridges. The second package (5B) dictates the construction of highways, underground motorways, and electricity distribution plants in two areas on Lusail City's Qetaifan Islands.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lusail Real Estate Development Company Chief Executive Officer Eng. Essa Mohammed Ali Kaldari and Samsung C&T President and CEO Mr. Jung Yeon-Joo, along with top executives from both companies.
"Qatari Diar is proud to be partnering with Samsung, a world-renowned company in high-quality mega infrastructure projects, for these two crucial projects," Eng. Kaldari said. "We are confident in Samsung's ability to deliver superb quality and we look forward to having them on board as we develop a strong infrastructural system for Lusail City."
Eng. Kaldari added: "The projects to be undertaken by Samsung will play an important role in assuring the interconnectivity of Lusail City's many districts by linking the Qetaifan Islands - future home to 895 Qatari nationals- with other sections across the development."
Samsung C&T President and CEO Jung Yeon-Joo said his company has handpicked a selection of top employees to oversee the Lusail City development.
"I hereby make a personal pledge to follow up on the progress of these projects on a weekly basis. I also reiterate the promise we made when we were awarded the project: Samsung will strive to have the project finalized two months before the official deadline," said Yeon-Joo.
"This clear-cut commitment will serve as an added motivation for offering our best services in Lusail and Qatar; Samsung places high emphasis on delivery deadlines as well as on observing quality and safety requirements," Mr. Yeon-Joo added.
Yeon-Joo also said that he is well aware that Qatar is passing through a decisive stage in its history, as it strives to achieve its 2030 National Vision, meet the requirements for hosting the 2022 World Cup, and fulfill its goal of hosting the 2020 Olympic Games. (QNA)
